The Summer residence of the popes, together with the adjacent Barberini Palace, which houses Bernini's masterpieces designed by Carlo Maderno, are the perfect examples of the Italian Baroque and Renaissance. The whole residence is surrounded by the Imperial villa's gardens with an artificial grotto of the crater lakes.
If you fancy, a stop for a wine tasting and a tour of a local winery can be arranged; and you may want to enjoy a taste of the Roman culinary specialties in a typical country trattoria.
